VaGoldMaps is a research map for Virginia's gold belt: topo, streams, historic mines, structure, and LiDAR, so you can study the ground before you lace up.
Go to the map. The default basemap is topo, with streams and historic mines already on. Use the search box for a town, mine, creek, or GPS, then pan until ridges and drainages read clearly. Tap a mine pin for site details from the Virginia inventory.
Zoom in close, then turn on LiDAR hillshade. At a solid zoom you'll see old channels, benches, and disturbed ground that topo alone can hide.
When you're ready to stack more, use the layers control:
Streams stay on and don't count toward free-account layer limits.
Long-press the map on a phone, or right-click at a desk, for a menu. Drop a pin, copy the GPS, name the place, and add a short note. Trial accounts can save up to 10 places. Always get permission before entering any land.
Use measure for distance and bearing. At higher zoom (trial / Prospector), parcel identify helps you plan access. VaGoldMaps is for research and education, not a treasure map or a right-of-entry.
