Where does the historic mine data come from?

Historic mine locations come from Virginia Energy Division of Geology and Mineral Resources (DGMR) and USGS Mineral Resources Data System (MRDS). These sources compile historical mining records, geological reports, and field surveys conducted over more than a century of exploration.
